Meet the Doctor

spicerfamily.JPGDr. Todd Spicer is the owner and clinic director of Natural Healthworks Chiropractic & Wellness Center.  He is a graduate of San Diego State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a specialization in physical therapy.  He completed his chiropractic training at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.   Since graduating and obtaining his license, Dr. Spicer has taken numerous seminars and also gives seminars on a variety of topics.

While growing up in Southern California he loved most outdoor activities including surfing, snowboarding, playing soccer, football and baseball.  In fact, he was awarded a full scholarship to play baseball at the prestigious Indiana University.  His baseball career was ended short when he tore the ligaments in his elbow.  With no more baseball, Dr. Spicer was a fish out of water landlocked in Indiana, so he transferred to SDSU where he could get a great education and enjoy his daily ritual of surfing.

Dr. Spicer's desire to pursue a career in chiropractic came from a series of events which started from an injury he received while snowboarding in college. Six months of severe pain and almost complete loss of feeling and movement of his right leg, Dr. Spicer had given up all hope and was bound for surgery.  After 5 months of physical therapy and no results Dr. Spicer decided to give chiropractic a shot.  After 3 months of chiropractic care he was back surfing, exercising and enjoying life with no pain.  Though this was a factor in his pursuit of being a chiropractor, the real reason he is such an outspoken advocate in the community for health and wellness through chiropractic was his newly acquired immune system responses he was getting from the adjustments.  You see, Dr. Spicer while growing up had severe reoccurring sinus infections in which he was on antibiotics about every other month.  Everyone understands how bad antibiotics are for you and what they do to your immune system and overall body performance, so you can understand how bad Dr. Spicer felt all the time.  Ever since Dr. Spicer started getting adjusted he has not had a sinus infection and has never taken an antibiotic since.  “This is real chiropractic” Dr. Spicer’s states.  “When there is no pressure on the nervous system the body can do what it was designed to do, express health.”  “As happy as I was getting out of pain and not having to get surgery for my back, this was way more important for me, my health and my peace of mind, knowing that I wasn’t going to always get sick.

Over the past 5 years Dr. Spicer has developed a family practice and emphasizes the need to look at each patient as a special, unique, whole individual.  He is married to his beautiful wife Elizabeth and they have two children Braden Kalani (2) and Ashlyn Alohilani (2 mo).

Dr. Spicer has dedicated his life to helping people understand how the body works and helping people achieve total body wellness.
